Living with Christ

April 2025 - Volume 26 - Issue 4
Magazine

Living with Christ provides a wide variety of resources that help to nourish your daily spiritual life, putting the richness of the Christian spiritual tradition at your fingertips. Use these for your personal growth, for your reflection and prayer, and for sharing your faith with others in your family, household, or community.

Christ is risen!

Prayer in the morning

Gospel canticles • The gospel canticles (or “songs”) come from Luke's gospel. In honor of the mystery of the Incarnation (to which all three refer), it is customary to make the sign of the cross as the canticle begins and to stand while it is sung.

A curious omission

Rolling stones • His Eminence Luis Antonio Cardinal G. Tagle, serves as the Pro-Prefect of the Section for the First Evangelization and New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelization. He is also the Gran Chancellor of the Pontifical University Urbaniana and serves as the Metropolitan Archbishop emeritus of Manila. He was born in Manila, the Philippines and serves as President of Caritas Internationalis. In December of 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The below reflection is part of his Holy Week reflections and focuses on Easter Sunday.

Jesus: human and divine • Father George Smiga is a longtime columnist for Living with Christ. He holds a doctorate in sacred theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University, teaches at St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in Wickliffe, Ohio, and is the author of Angels in the Bible and The Holy Spirit in the Bible for Little Rock Scripture Study. His website is buildingontheword.org.

Taking out the trash • Find a quiet spot to read, reflect, and pray. You may record your thoughts in a prayer journal, or share your responses with others in a group.
